Pylons Threaten our Landscape

Added on 05 June 2012

Protect our landscape from National Grid's massive pylons

As National Grid's Hinkley C Connection Project moves into the next stage of detailed plannign and siting for an overhead route, from Hinkley to Seabank, local Parishes in our area have joined forces to protect our very special landscape.

As a group, we are aware that the National Grid project team does not appreciate the destructive impact 151 foot high pylons and 22 ft wide lower arms will have on our very precious landscape. Our participation in the consultation process does not make us feel that the message has been taken on board by National Grid. We have, therefore organised a walk up to the top of Crook Peak to emphasise the importance of the vista and landscape from the our local range of Mendip..  The invited guests include, MPs, representatives and Leaders of Somerset County Council, Sedgemoor District Council, North Somerset Unitary Authority and other Statutory Consultees, who have a role to play in the decision making process and the press.  National Grid’s Project Team has also been invited.
It will hopefully show the effects the proposal will have on the landscape.

We want as many people as possible to join us on a walk to the top of Crook Peak on 24th June 2012. We aim to meet at the peak at 12.00 noon.
