Weekly Food Waste

Small food waste caddy  Keep the caddy in your kitchen. Newspaper can be used to wrap food waste or to line kitchen caddies. Special starch-based compostable liners can also be purchased from retailers throughout Somerset. Click here for further information about liners and retailers.

You can put the following in: Any raw & cooked food. Meat, fish, fruit, vegetables, bread, pasta, cereal, tea bags, coffee grounds, cheese and egg shells.Large food waste bin  The large food waste bin locks when the handle is fully forward. This prevents spills if the bin is knocked over and protects the contents of the bins from animals. You can line the large bin if you wish with newspapers or approved compostable liners.

Household Recycling Centres

Note : From Monday 3rd October 2016 there are changes to the use of recycling Centres (e.g. Cheddar). Customers using cars (including estates, 4x4s, people carriers, campervans) to take household waste to recycling sites are not affected. Household users that have cars with trailers or have vans – will need to apply online for a free van and/or trailer permit. Household users that have bigger vans, large trailers, use horseboxes or turn up with a tractor will no longer have access to sites for household waste. For more information see the website at www.somersetwaste.gov.uk
