Axbridge Sea Cadets

Added on 18 February 2012

We are well on the way to forming a Sea Cadet unit in Axbridge and this facility will be available to boys and girls in the parishes around Axbridge in the very near future. We have been successful in recruiting some of the necessary training staff and management committee but, as always, any further offers of help will be gratefully accepted. Somerset County Council plans to withdraw funding from virtually all youth services at the end of the current financial year. At present the old railway station at Axbridge is used to accommodate a youth club and some Duke of Edinburgh Award work for young people in the Cheddar Valley area. It seemed an opportune time for Axbridge Sea Cadets to bid for the building to ensure that the young people of our area have the chance to participate in the exciting and worthwhile activities offered by the Sea Cadets.

If you would like more information about sea cadets and what we can offer to young people please do not hesitate to contact me, Baz Hamblin, my contact telephone numbers are 01934 733939 and 07979 994126.
