Energy saving tips
Check your tariff by using a comparison website. It is a good idea to do this once a year as you could pay less on your energy bills by switching.
Save energy and water by remembering to keep to 4 minute showers. Plus a running tap wastes more than six litres of water a minute, so turn off the tap while brushing your teeth, shaving, or washing your face - and use cold water if you don't need hot.
Check your thermostat is set correctly this may need adjusting for the winter months. You should aim for 21oC in the living room and 18oC in other rooms.
Use a slow cooker. They don’t use much energy, and they can also cook your dinner for you while you’re out!
Tumble drying’s expensive, so make the most of sunny days and dry your clothes outside. They’ll smell nice and fresh too.
When your freezer’s looking empty, get around to defrosting it. A build-up of ice increases your freezer’s running costs.
