North Somerset Core Strategy: Adoption of consequential changes to Policies CS6, CS14, CS19, CS28, CS30, CS31, CS32, and CS33.
The consequential changes to Policies CS6, CS14, CS19, CS28, CS30, CS31, CS32 and CS33 of the North Somerset Core Strategy were adopted on 10 January 2017 and now form part of the development plan for North Somerset.
The North Somerset Core Strategy was originally adopted in April 2012. Following a legal challenge, Policy CS13 (scale of new housing) was remitted by the court for reconsideration. A revised version of Policy CS13 was re-adopted in September 2015. At the same time the court remitted a number of other policies for further consideration on the basis that any change to Policy CS13 could have consequential changes for those policies. They are Policies CS6, CS14, CS19, CS28, CS30, CS31, CS32 and CS33. These policies relate to the settlement strategy and the approach to new development at Weston-super-Mare, Clevedon, Nailsea and Portishead, service villages, infill villages and elsewhere. Policies CS6 Green Belt and CS19 Strategic Gaps were also re-examined but no changes made.
The proposed consequential changes to the remaining remitted policies have been subject to examination by an independent inspector appointed by the Secretary of State and were re-adopted by North Somerset Council on 10 January 2017.

Period for challenge
Any person aggrieved by the adoption of the consequential changes to Policies CS6, CS14, CS19, CS28, CS30, CS31, CS32 and CS33 of the North Somerset Core Strategy may make an application to the High Court under Section 113 of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act on the grounds that:
- the North Somerset Core Strategy is not within the appropriate powers conferred by Part 2 of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004;
- a procedural requirement of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 or its associated Regulations has not been complied with.
Any such application should be made promptly and in any event no later than the end of the six week challenge period, 21 February 2017.
